Hints and Tips
2.0 Know Your Set Up and Selection:
When stepping into your first DJ Set, it’s recommended to familiarise yourself with ALL the tracks available, all the various samples and scratches and buttons and faders. The more you know about the changes in tracks, samples and scratches the better and more varied your DJ sets will sound.
2.1 Learn The Tracks First:
When mixing it up for the first time we suggest you just use the music tracks until you get your mixes tight. Then you can start to include scratches and samples after that. You could even mute the Scratch Deck (centre image on scratch deck) so you can move around the whole page and mouse over the scratch deck without triggering any unwanted scratches, simply un-mute (click center image again) to get scratching.
2.2 Keep Volumes Level:
Try to keep your volume levels the same throughout the whole DJ set. Just like a Real DJ If a track or specific scratch or sample is too loud turn it down using the adjustments on the scratch deck or vertical volume sliders. This helps keeps a nice seamless professional mix.
2.3 Mixing Other Genre’s Together:
When you start getting really good, why not try mixing up Drum N Bass (180 bpm) with say R&B and Hip Hop (80bpm) that may add a new element to your mixing. All the Garage, Bassline, Funky, Electro, Dubstep & Drum & Bass should also mix together.
2.4 Maximise Your Screen:
If you cant see all the console on your monitor try pressing F11 to maximise the screen and see more of the console (PC users only)
