Getting Started

1.0 Your First Visit:

When checking out www.scratchattack.co.uk for the very first time you see our Welcome / Home page & this is the default Scratch Attack .co.uk page. You will need to subscribe by signing up in order to join our community and use the full range of DJ Mixing and Scratching features available.

You subscribe by clicking on REGISTER FREE then submitting your email address & password of your choice. You can then check out the MEMBERS AREA to edit your profile and update any details. Once you have set up your user profile you can then access the scratch attack DJ console by clicking on the MIX IT UP NOW image on the right hand side of the page.

1.2 Your First Login:

Once logged in successfully to the members area and looking at the Scratch Attack DJ console for the first time your almost ready to start mixing it up. Firstly familiarize yourself with the general layout, equipment, controls, buttons and faders on the console itself. You should see 2 x vinyl turntables. 1 x mixer in the middle. A square scratch deck below the mixer. To the left and right of the scratch deck the drop down menu’s where you select the genre’s (style) of music you wish to mix with. DO CHECK: Your computer speakers are turned on and turned up.

1.3 Genre’s of Music:

Select the genre you want to mix first. You can choose from Garage & Bassline, Funky & Electro House, Dubstep & Breakbeat, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop & R&B. All the tracks available in that style of music will appear in the drop down menu 1.3.1 below when selected. Then move the mouse down over the track you wish to load and double click on LOAD to load that track / send it onto the left or right deck.

1.4 Turntables:

The 2 x turntables operate in exactly the same way. 1.4.1 When loaded a selected track to start it playing press the START / STOP button ONCE.

1.4.2 To stop the track playing press the same button ONCE. If you press START / STOP again it will play the track from where it was previously stopped. If you press RESET it will take the track back to the very start of the track so when you next press START / STOP it starts from the beginning. (0.00.00)

1.5 Mixer:

The Mixer located between the two decks behaves as a normal DJ mixer would and has vertical up and down faders. 1 is Left,  2 is Right which control the amount of volume of music on the Left or Right deck.

1.6 Cross Fader:

The horizontal cross fader is at the bottom of the mixer located inbetween the L and R letters. If the cross fader is 100% to the Left (L) you’ll only hear the left deck. If 100% to the Right (R) you’ll only hear the right deck playing. If the cross fader is in the middle you’ll be able to hear both decks (default setting) If you can’t hear anything make sure both vertical volumes are up and a track is playing. (indicated by a record spinning)

1.7 Scratch Deck:

Underneath the mixer is our unique “Scratch Attack” square deck. To use this 1st select the BPM to match the speed of the tracks you are mixing using the buttons in the corner. Top left button 90 bpm is recommended for Hip Hop & R&B but can also be used for Drum N Bass. Bottom left 138 bpm is for Garage and Bassline, House, Dubstep & Breakbeat. Top right 180 bpm button is for Drum N Bass but can be used over R&B. We suggest the scratches match the tracks ure using to sound best. The bottom right button labelled “??” is for a set of samples (air horns, explsions etc) to help spice up your mix.

To use the scratch deck and get it playing samples and scratches just mouse over a coloured section on the scratch deck to play a scratch sample once. The sample will play each time you mouse over a section, Mouse over another colour to play a different scratch. (or sample)
